Day in The Villa Kensington
I enjoyed staying at The Villa with my 12yo grandson. It’s a pleasant, clean, light and airy, well located building with a lift. The reception staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The self service breakfast is tasty and adequate with juice, tea/coffee, cereals, egg, hot dog sausages, baked beans, hash browns, croissants, buns, toast and jams. 😋 The location of The Villa is only a couple of minutes walk from Zone 1 Gloucester Road underground tube station. It’s near to a variety of food establishments and also a couple of reasonably priced supermarkets. There’s the Science Museum, the Natural History Museum and the Music Museum only a 10 to 15 minutes walk away. These museums are all free. The Royal Albert Hall is across the road from RCM and its museum. These are only one tube station from The Villa, but we walked to this area. However, we used the underground to visit different parts of London during our stay. I hope to stay here again.

I was unwell during my stay, and the young man on reception was very kind and changed my room to save my having to climb too many stairs. Unfortunately the lift was out of order, I don't blame the hotel for the inconvenience, things can happen. It's how they deal with problems that counts and they couldn't have been better and carried my case, which was a great help. Admittedly, parts of the hotel needed some redecorating, but all the important things were as they should be, clean linen, also the bathroom. There were ample tea/coffee supplies, (unlike a 4* hotel I had stayed in which fell short of those!). For such a superb location in London, I think the Villa Kensington offers excellent value for money, and feels very homely rather than grand. I would definitely recommend, and look forward to staying there again.

The property has a good location, being two minutes from Gloucester Road Underground Station and I felt safe within the hotel and the surrounding area, having arrived back late at night from a trip to the theatre. The hotel and room were clean and comfortable and, although the room is on the small side, it was fine for me as a solo traveller. All appliances worked and I did not hear any noise internally or externally to the hotel. The was someone on reception as I arrived at 3pm, returned at 10.30pm and left at 6.00am in the morning. The room was more than I would normally pay, but reasonable in comparison to other hotels for a central location in London and only half an hour away by Underground to Victoria Rail and Coach Stations.

Generally, the neighborhood is great. The hotel is on 5 minutes walk to Gloucester Road Metro Station. From there you can get to the main attractions in London. Just in front of the station is a Tesco market, Starbucks, Burger King. The Hide Park and the Kensington Palace, which are amazing, are on 10 minutes walk. The history and science museum as well. My point is that the location and the neighborhood are great. The hotel is basic, good for a short stay. Outside looks much better than inside.

We were about ten minutes late for breakfast and the staff were excellent- instead of turning us away like many hotels would- they couldn't have been more accommodating and brought out all sorts of things that we could consume before leaving! Everything was done with a smile which was a massive plus. Nothing was too much for the catering team. The bedroom was fine to stay in for one night, and the bed was comfy. Check in and out was very smooth and there was no faff.
